With her 4 octave range, a “voice of striking richness, flexibility and dimension” (Roger Malouf, New York City Opera) and a powerful stage presence, Barbara brings mesmerizing beauty and passion into all her performances. A classically trained lyric coloratura soprano, Barbara has sung opera and oratorio professionally both in America and in Europe.  She also has professional experience singing musical theater (Broadway), cabaret and jazz, and is known for her ability to cross over into different styles seamlessly.

       Lyrics, Lyre, & Sound - Lyriphon is a San Diego based trio that is passionate about bringing poetic lyricism and technical excellence to beloved popular songs through the magical combination of stunning voices, spanish classical guitar and percussion. 

 

      Lyriphon is a trio consisting of internationally acclaimed songstress Barbara Tobler, world-class composer & recording artist, Mark Bacilla,  and San Diego professional guitarist, Craig Stephenson.
 
      Lyriphon performs a uniquely eclectic blend of music including Brazilian, standard jazz, and classical, as well as popular songs from the pop, classic rock, folk and even operatic genres.  In addition to familiar American song favorites, songs are performed in languages such as Portuguese, Italian, and French, and are interwoven with virtuosic instrumental Brazilian guitar duets.
